The design and development of modern commercial GNSS receivers increasingly depends on reliable, accurate and reasonably fast software simulation tool kits.
This paper describes a novel semi-analytical approach in modelling a GNSS receiver for indoor operation. Contrary to Monte Carlo, this approach is based on direct modelling of correlation functions of the satellite navigation waveforms. Consequently, a significant reduction in simulation time (typically by several orders of magnitude) can be attained and hence, it is possible for the simulation to run in real or near-real time on standard ‘off the shelf’ desktop PCs.
